Digital inclusion is everyone’s responsibility

We live in a digital world, but some people are still excluded. 700,000 people in Scotland can’t currently access the internet.

Being digitally connected is essential for modern life. People facing barriers to getting online are missing the foundation that underpins our daily life: including how we connect with family, friends and fun.

We believe this inequality is unacceptable.

We also believe that everyone has a role, regardless of our job or sector, to help people access the benefits of the online world – on their terms, as their choice.

For more than ten years, Scotland has been leading the way in the UK in supporting people to embrace digital inclusion in a way that works for them. There is now an urgency to make sure that everyone is playing their part.

That’s why we’re proud to have a Digital Inclusion Charter for Scotland.

Scotland’s Digital Inclusion Charter builds on the success of the previous Digital Participation Charter, and is here to support, guide and recognise the work your organisation does to help people online.

So whether you are public, private or voluntary sector, signing up to Scotland’s Charter is the best way to demonstrate that you’re supporting the people of Scotland live a fairer, more fulfilled life.
